1. First Generation (1942-1955):

The first generation used more than 10,000 vacuum tubes. These vacuum tubes consumes a lot of power. The ENIAC, EDSAC, and IBM 360 are the examples of this generation. 2. Second Generation(1955-1964):
The second generation start from 1955 to 1964. The 2nd generation of computer is using transistors instead of vacuum tubes. Similarly, the transistor is more reliable and valuable than vacuum tubes. They consume less power as compare to vacuum tubes. The FORTON, COBOL, BASIC are the programming languages. In addition, the UNIVAC, IBM 360 and 7000 series are the examples of this generation.
3. Third Generation(1964-1975):
The 3rd generation of computer using integrated circuits (ICs) instead of transistors. Likewise the ICs are smaller than transistors but better than transistors. It also include AI, VLSI, and DBMS. The fifth generation is reliable. It is faster. Also available in different sizes and shapes. The fifth generation is affordable.
